What is the Southern Junior Cup?
Each fall the STA host the
Southern Junior Cup for boys and girls age divisions 12-18s.
The 12s event is held on a separate weekend from the 14-18s.
Each state sends 3 boys and 3 girls in each age division. In 14s,
16s and 18s each state team competes against the other 8 southern
states playing 3 singles, 2 doubles, one which is mixed. The total
team score is kept to determine a winner.
The 12s competition mixes players from all nine southern states.
Teams are made by the STA. Teams compete against one another in the
same format as the older age divisions, playing 3 singles, 2
doubles, one which is mixed. In the 12s, a team winner is
determined rather than a state one.
The Southern Junior Cup is a Level 1 STA/LTA tournament.
