RACKET DONATION FROM NEW ENGLAND HELPS EXTEND DEADLINE TO REGISTER FOR GIVEAWAY/PLAYDAY AT CITY PARK

Racket Donation from Vermont Dream Project & USTA New England to New Orleans Youth Tennis Event at City Park Tennis Center

New Orleans, LA March 19, 2012 Thanks to a donation of rackets from the Vermont Dream Project (with assistance from USTA New England), the deadline for registering will be extended to the first 100 to register for the 10 & Under Fun Fest PlayDay at the City Park/Pepsi Tennis Center. The PlayDay will take place on March 31st from 10 AM to 12 Noon. The Vermont Dream Project is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation established in 2009 in South Burlington, VT. New Orleans Youth Tennis is pleased to announce this support from its "New England Connection. This support for grassroots tennis initiatives, from as far away from the City of New Orleans as Vermont, is encouraging and will help more kids get rackets and balls.

This event, like the other free Saturday morning sessions NOYT presents at the center on Marconi Drive, is open to the public, and free to all who show up. Besides the prizes, snacks, and refreshments on the day of the event, the first 100 to register will receive a free, age appropriate racket and ball so they can continue to have fun on their own. There is no cost to register, either, so every child in the age bracket (6 to 10) is eligible for the racket giveaway.

United States Tennis Association (USTA) sponsored PlayDays are being held nationwide during March to get more kids playing tennis, the best first sport for kids. The game for youth 10 and under is now played on smaller courts with softer balls and shorter, lighter rackets. NOYT and City Park Tennis have signed on to end the month of March with one of the grandest youth festivals of the season on the tennis courts of City Park.

Ways to register:

Registration forms available at the City Park/Pepsi Tennis Center, at Second Serve, 3951 Veterans Blvd. Metairie, or by Email to: hughes357@cox.net
