2012 WTT Junior Nationals

The 2012 WTT Junior Nationals were played July 30- August 2 at the

George E. Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego, California.

the 2012 World Team Tennis Junior Nationals were hosted by Billie Jean.

Below is a photo of Cameron Andry, Boys 16s from Baton
Rouge. He was invited to play for the South. Cameron's STA 16s team which was
named Southern Hospitality WON the 2012 WTT Junior title!

ABOUT WTT JUNIOR NATIONALS

Many of the nation’s most promising junior tennis players compete in the WTT Junior Nationals. This tournament is a premier national junior invitational event featuring 16 co-ed teams from throughout the U.S. The teams use the WTT format during their three days of non-elimination draw competition. In addition to the competition, players also participate in seminars and a clinic hosted by event host and WTT co-founder Billie Jean King. The 16 teams receive grants of $500 each from Billie Jean King WTT Charities.

2012 EVENT:

2012 WTT Junior Nationalswas held July 30 - August 2 at the George E.Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego, Calif.Southern Hospitality(pictured above) defeatedMidwest Cheeseheads39-33 to the titlein 2012.
TEAM SELECTION:

Team memberswere selected based on their sectional and national rankings, butwere NOT eligible if they attained a ranking of 1-150 on the USTA Seed Selection List as of May 15, 2012. The targeted junior playerswere 14-18 years of age.


FORMAT:
Tournament matches follow the WTT non-elimination draw format. The 16 co-ed teams are divided into 4 groups.

Southern Hospitality def. Midwest Cheeseheads39-33

3rd place: Texas Team Ryan def. Southwest Sweetness 41-30

5th place: Intermountain Irrationality def. Miami Dream Team 44-39

7th place: Central Coast Crushers def. Smashing Rebels 43-30

9th place: New England Strikers def. Smooth Strokes 40-29

11th place: Bakersfield Ballers def. Sparetime Junior Caps 39-24

13th place: Eastern Way def. Yo...Wassup? 39-35

15th place: Northern Lights def. Hawaii Warriors 43-25
