Ryan Harrison Receives Final Singles Wild Card

ATLANTA, July 24, 2015 – Ryan Harrison, who has advanced to two semifinals at the BB&T Atlanta Open, will make his fifth appearance at the local ATP World Tour event, Eddie Gonzalez, BB&T Atlanta Open Tournament Director and Chief Development Officer, announced today.

In 2012, Harrison rose to No. 43 in the world. His accomplishments in singles that year included reaching semifinals in San Jose, Newport and Eastbourne. He has won two doubles finals – at this event in 2012 and in Newport in 2011 – both with Australian Matthew Ebden.

The Sherveport, Louisiana, native fell to Kevin Anderson in the 2013 singles semifinal. In 2011, eventual champion Mardy Fish defeated him in the same round.

"Ryan Harrison has been a mainstay at the BB&T Atlanta Open and a star performer with two semifinal appearances,” Gonzalez said. "We were pleased to offer our final wild card to an American player who has a great track record and even greater potential.”

Other singles main draw wild cards are 17-year-old American sensation Frances Tiafoe and Atlanta native and rising Georgia Tech sophomore Christopher Eubanks.

The tournament also announced the qualifying field, which includes American and top-seeded Denis Kudla, former world No. 39 Marinko Matosevic (who reached the quarterfinals here last year) and Edben. Other Americans include Trent Bryde of Suwanee, Georgia; Walter Duncan, of Atlanta; former Georgia Tech player Kevin King; Jared Donaldson; reigning French Open boys’ champion Tommy Paul and recently crowned Wimbledon boys’ titlist Reilly Opelka.

The tournament, which is the first event in the Emirates Airline US Open Series, has also announced the Bryan brothers, arguably the greatest men’s doubles team in tennis history, have committed to play. Two-time defending champion John Isner and 2013 finalist Anderson have also been announced. Past singles titlists Andy Roddick (2012) and Fish (2010-11) will also play doubles together.
