Mike McNulty is not always the most handsome man in a photo. On each side of him are the champion and finalist of the Louisiana Spring Championship 10 and Under division. Nathan Cox defeated Aidan Mahoney in the finals 2-4, 4-0, 1-0 in this level 3 Southern event held on March 10th and 11th in Lake Charles. Both juniors are from Lake Charles, Louisiana, home of current USTA Southern President Mike McNulty.

New rules for youth tennis have been passed by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and the United States Tennis Association (USTA) that require all sanctioned 10-and-under tournaments be played using slower-moving and lower-bouncing balls, shorter and lighter racquets, and on smaller courts. 10 and Under Tennis is a revolutionary change in the way kids learn and play tennis, as well as compete. Tennis is following the formula that the majority of youth sports have used for years - tailoring kids tennis equipment and courts to a child's size and age so that they develop skills and have fun right from the start. 10 and Under Tennis is structured for kids to learn tennis, rally and play quickly in a way that is both enjoyable and rewarding.  Click here for more information on 10 and Under Tennis.
