The Emirates Airline US Open Series has established itself as a true regular season of hard court tennis, linking nine summer tournaments to the US Open. The sanction for the BB&T Atlanta Open was purchased by USTA Southern and the USTA from the ATP World Tour on December 17, 2009. The BB&T Atlanta open 2014 came to a close on Sunday with the Wimbledon doubles winners, Jack Sock and Vasek Pospisil, defeating Americans Steve Johnson and Sam Querrey 6-3, 5-7, 10-5. Sock, a Nebraska native, said "We are trying to make the ATP World Finals. That is one of our small goals for the year”. The have their sights set on winning the US Open, but they have a few ATP events to compete in first. In 2013 John Isner, who played for the University of Georgia, put his third-set disappointments behind him and rode the wave of University of Georgia fans and won 6-7(3), 7-6(2), 7-6(2). In 2014 the singles final, top-seeded Isner overpowered Dudi Sela to successfully defend his Atlanta Open title, in a 6-3, 6-4 victory. "Getting that early lead helped me out a lot,” Isner said. John conquered his 9th ATP crown, the second of the season after the early title run in Auckland.
