Shreveport Nickelodeon Play Day - Friday, September 28, 2012

Kid Play Day in Shreveport October 2

The Mooretown Neighborhood, in Shreveport, Louisiana will be hosting a Nickelodeon play date this year for the children in their community. On Tuesday, October 2nd from 49 there are going to be an estimated 75 to 100 kids attending this day of play! Mooretown and Sunset schools are currently being funded by FDDOC in the FDDOC Elementary School after school tennis program.

FDDOC or the Fully Devoted Developer of Children is a non-profit organization incorporated to pursue the vision of supporting academic growth for at-risk students. It has provided after-school program services in 15 different Caddo Parish schools, with over 5000 students benefitting.

With the support of its partners, they are able to provide students with fun academic and enrichment opportunities, nutritional snacks, and bus transportation home. Students are pre tested in reading and math for development of an Individual Learning Plan and then also mid-tested and post tested to learn their progress and gains. In this case the students in Shreveport recorded an increase of 38 percent on average! FDDOC helps to prepare these students for successful school and life experiences!

They also received a grant from Century 21 offering free tutoring for kids and also helping to provide about 95 percent of the students with free lunch. There are huge strides being made for this community and tennis is only helping to increase this! Please check back for pictures and updates about this great event!
